R is for Taking Personal Responsibility for your Life

taking personal responsibility for your life

“While we may not be able to control all that happens to us, we can control what happens inside us.” –Benjamin Franklin
What does it mean to take responsibility for your personal life? You work, pay bills and take care of your family – isn’t that enough responsibility?
I’m proposing that you work toward making a difference in how you respond to important life changes. Remember, there is one constant in life and it is CHANGE. Change happens every day, but our ability to respond in a positive and productive manner can help alter our lives for the better. You cannot control the actions or words of others, but you can take total responsibility for your own actions.
Using excuses and letting negative thoughts enter into your life will ultimately result in failure. Instead, take responsibility for your actions, decisions and words – then all the power to improve and change is instilled in you. Gradually you will begin to see a transformation in your life, as well as the lives you touch.
Begin by removing the negative voice in your head – I can’t do it, I’m not worthy, it will never work!  Replace the negatives with positive affirmations to empower your thoughts and your actions. This will free your mind to think about your successes, accomplishments and gifts.
When positive thinking becomes a natural habit, you will be amazed how life will become what your heart truly desires.
