R is for Regular Exercise and your Paycheck

regular exercise and your paycheck

It’s well known that exercise is the foundation for a healthy lifestyle. With the combination of a balanced diet and physical exercise, you can achieve your personal fitness goals. But, the list of positive benefits of exercise doesn’t stop with physical fitness. Exercising regularly can also provide many psychological benefits such as:

  • Elevated mood

  • Improved self-esteem

  • Enhanced brain function

  • More energy and less mental fatigue

  • Decreased anxiety

The benefits don’t stop there. Regular exercise is also connected to higher income earners. According to a study published in the Journal of Labor Research, employees who exercise regularly (at least three hours each week) earn nine percent more, on average, than employees who don’t. Vasilios Kosteas of Cleveland State University did an independent study of people with the same work ethics, education, experience, and health.

Exercise was the one separate variable that concluded those who exercised three or more times a week earned on average nine percent more than those who did not exercise. The study also found that those who didn’t have a prior history of healthy living saw an increase in productivity after starting a regular exercise routine which often resulted in a raise.

Exercise has continuously been linked to numerous positive effects on the body and mind. So, look at both the personal and financial gains and start working out regularly. Even if the results are not in increased pay, it will most likely result in lower healthcare bills, increased happiness, and healthy longevity.

So get out there and exercise it’s a Win-Win for you!
