Giving Thanks with Gratitude
Giving Thanks with Gratitude
“I am grateful for what I am and have. My thanksgiving is perpetual.” – Henry David Thoreau
Thanksgiving is the time of year where we give thanks to our family and friends. But this year more than ever, it is important to give gratitude as well. Gratitude is defined as “the quality of being thankful, and a readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.” Many of us have had a year (or two) that has been more difficult than usual. There is no better time than now to show gratitude.
Gratitude is important to practice not just on Thanksgiving and other holidays, but everyday. Being grateful for the simple things in life can change your perspective and create abundance within your life. Practicing gratitude can be as simple as stopping to think for a minute to be grateful for your holiday food or the flowers in your garden. Or it can be as grand as being grateful you and your family members woke up this morning and get to celebrate the holidays together. Or you can even use this time to start a daily gratitude practice with affirmations and meditation
However you choose to practice gratitude this holiday season, make sure you spread the love with the ones you cherish around you. Give gratitude for a holiday spent with loved ones. And don’t forget to keep being grateful long after the holiday is over.
