Commemorate Memorial Day

Commemorate Memorial Day

Commemorate Memorial DayThis year, as we gather with family and friends to enjoy a Memorial Day barbeque and the start of summer, let’s take the time to reflect and honor the men and women who sacrificed their lives while fighting for our freedom as well as for those who continue to fight.

A few ways we can commemorate Memorial Day:

Make it Social

Social media sites are a great way to share news, photos, and events with your friends and family. Show your gratitude to those who have given their lives for our country by sharing a message of gratitude with your followers.

Send a personal Letter

Send a personal letter to your local newspaper and tell them why Memorial Day is important to you.

Visit a cemetery

Memorial Day was originally known as Decoration Day, the graves of Civil War soldiers were cleaned and decorated, this original observance continues today.  Check with your local military, private cemetery or church to volunteer for this community observance.

Offer assistance

Find a military family who has lost a loved one or contribute to a charity which provides support to fallen service members’ families.

Say “Thank You”

Thank a  Veteran, not just today but each time you meet one.

On this Memorial Day, let’s celebrate those Americans who have safeguarded our freedom and honor their sacrifices by thanking them not only on Memorial Day but every day.
